LOVE YOUR HISTORIC WINDOWS PHOTO PROJECT

Each year the National Trust for Historic Preservation designates May as Preservation Month and announces a preservation theme.  This year’s theme is “Old Is the New Green”, which highlights the close connection between preservation and conservation.  To underscore the importance that old windows have in preserving the character of a building as well as the important role that they can play in conserving energy, the Trust is sponsoring the “Love Your Historic Windows” photo project.  Share your window love with the world by taking pictures of your favorite historic windows—in your own home, in your neighborhood, in downtown buildings, in churches or public buildings or wherever you see a wonderful old window—and then  send your pictures in to appear on the Trust’s online window slide show on Flickr.  To view the slide show or to learn how to share your pictures, go to www.preservationnation.org/issues/weatherization/windows/love-your-historic-windows.html

Since SPI is focused on preservation in the southern Sagadahoc County area, we are also interested in displaying your local pictures right here on our website.  Just e-mail your pictures to innkeeper@innatbath.com and we will include them.  As you get out and enjoy the spring, be sure to look at the many different styles of windows and appreciate how much they contribute to the historic appearance of our buildings, and share your discoveries with us.
